Rhythm And Kin

Rhythm And Kin

Tamsin and Phoebe are a mother-daughter duo from the beautiful Riwaka Valley in the Nelson/Tasman region. The music they bring is inspired by traditional Celtic and folk songs, as well as genres such as Kesmic, tango, Balkan and Gypsy. Their set features violin, vocals, tin whistle and guitar.

Tamsin studied classical viola at Massey University before falling in love with the wildness of Celtic, gypsy, jazz and folk styles. She started writing her own music and managed to share the flair with her daughters. So when Phoebe picked up the guitar and started singing like a lark, mother and daughter struck up a musical alliance and began performing for the local community at public functions such as fairs, festivals, concerts, and ceilidhs as well as private functions.

Rhythm and Kin have brought dancing, joy and love of good music to their community and look forward to bringing it all to the Canterbury Folk Festival too!
